The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus (2009) [Movie Review]

"A film from Heath Ledger & friends" - if this isn't reason enough to watch this movie, I don't know what is.

This will be more of a PSA than anything. The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus is the film Ledger was working on when he passed. The filmmakers didn't know what to do with the film at first, but didn't want to just throw the film away. So some of Ledger's friends (Johnny Depp, Collin Farrell, and Jude Law) decided to fill in for the parts that were unfinished. All three donated all of the money they earned from this film to Ledger's daughter. For me, that was enough to watch this movie - a tribute to a great actor.

But if you need more information than that before you watch the movie, just go read IMDb's description - "A traveling theater company gives its audience much more than they were expecting." Nevermind; that description does this film no justice. Without spoiling too much, this film is about the wonders of the imagination. One of the more creative films I've had the grace of watching.

The CG looks a little under par, especially for a film from 2009, but this is easy to look past with the surprisingly great writing. Everyone involved in this film did a great job, and I highly recommend watching it.
