"Oh great, another horror movie about a cabin in the woods. Let me guess, five friends?" I'll be honest, that was my initial reaction to hearing about this movie. That was also the main reason I avoided seeing it in theaters. Well, that and my friend ruining the entire damn movie because I shouldn't watch it.
What a fun movie this was! I wouldn't even classify this as horror, it was a wonderful mix of so many different genres! This film referenced so many classic and iconic horror movies, featured an abundance of creatures commonly found in horror films, and it all played out surprisingly nice. The acting was wonderful, with some exceptions. But the film excels with it's creative writing, way to go Whedon!
Overall, The Cabin in the Woods is a fun movie to watch, but don't go in expecting the movie to be all that scary.
