Now You See Me (2013) [Movie Review]

Who doesn't love a good magic trick? Seriously, even if you want nothing more than to prove how the magic trick was done, it is still an entertaining matter. Making movies about it isn't always a good idea in terms of quality, however. Like I said, magic is always a fun topic, but it's hard to make a good movie about it.

I'm going to explain my reaction the first time I saw a trailer for this film. Right away I was pulled in by Morgan Freeman's amazing voice, the simple statement "Come in close ... the more you think you see, the easier it'll be to fool you" was enough to get me excited. But they didn't stop there. I then hear another familiar voice, Jesse Eisenberg, followed by Isla Fisher, who is always nice to see onscreen. When I saw Woody Harrelson pop up, I knew that I was seeing this movie. No questions asked. The trailer wasn't even half done, and I was giddy for this movie. With every new face that popped on screen, my enthusiasm grew and grew. Not to mention, awesome fights being shown, funny lines, really everything about the trailer interested me.

The following may contain spoilers, continue reading at your own discretion.

Then I watched the movie. And I'll say right now that I think this movie deserves two viewings. The writing was great, the viewer is meant to be second guessing every thought they have about the movie. I'll admit, my brain was hurting for much of this movie. That being said, I can't figure out if the writing was amazing or horrible. The big twist makes little sense, and the happy ending was ill-deserved. But overall, the cast was great, and worked perfectly together. The flaws in this film are minor when compared to the amazing acting and effects. I recommend this movie.
