Bridesmaids (2011) [Movie Review]

Bridesmaids is oddly a blessing and blemish to the film industry. It is a response to The Hangover's success, attempting to cash in on more ticket sales from the female audience by featuring an all-female cast. It is a blemish in the sense this means in order to sell tickets to females, there needs to feature a primarily female cast. The blessing is that this female cast is phenomenal.

This is one of the rare times in which seeing Melissa McCarthy on screen does not make me want to leave the room instantly. While this is the role that spawned her recent type-cast, of which I cannot wait to be over, it is extremely well done in this film. All of the other actresses have always been good to great in their films, so I don't feel it necessary to dwell on their performances. Everyone involved in this film did a great job.

As I said, this was the response to The Hangover, and as such the comedy is similar. The plot is, obviously, different but it's fair to say that if you enjoyed that, you will enjoy this.
