Machete (2010) [Movie Review]

It's not often that someone can say something is both smart and stupid, but both descriptions fit Machete perfectly. For anyone who watched Grindhouse, you probably remember a fake trailer for a movie by the name of "Machete". Due to popular demand, the trailer was made into a feature length film, and two sequels were green-lit alongside it.

If you, for whatever reason, pick up Machete in hopes of finding a film at the epitome of cinematography, you have made a poor decision. It was directed by Robert Rodriguez, who loves to make B-style movies that are extremely unrealistic and generally have the "B-movie" feel. So, if you read the title of the film, saw the cover art, and still thought that this might have been Oscar worthy, you have only yourself to blame.

However, if you are the kind of person who enjoys watching movies that make no attempt to be "good", then Machete is a definite must-see for you! The cheesiness of this film is emitted from the hilarious writing and perfectly suited acting. I was laughing my ass off for the majority of the film, and because of that I have no issues with the price I paid to own this film.

It's clear to see that everyone involved in this film had a blast doing it. And because of that, the viewer will have a blast watching it. So, go find this movie. Grab some popcorn, grab an age-appropriate beverage, and enjoy the show. This is the perfect late-night flick.
