Maleficent (2014) [Movie Review]

I have not seen Sleeping Beauty in years. It's been at least 15 years since I last watched the movie. So I have almost no recollection of any of the events that transpired in that movie. I think this film is made for the fans of that movie, and I really wish I would have had to time to re-watch it.

Anyway, like I said, this was mostly for the fans of the 1959 movie. If you liked that movie, I am going to go out on a limb and say you will definitely enjoy this movie. But, looking solely at this film, there are quite a few things that are a tad under-par. Actually, it's not that anything in this film is bad, it's just not quite to the level that Disney, and pretty much everyone else involved, has proven to be capable of in the past. None of the actors seemed passionate about the project (or at least did not show their passion for the project), which really brought down the quality.

But like I said, there is really nothing that is blatantly wrong with this film. It's not up to par for a Disney film, but it is definitely not a bad movie. If you enjoyed Sleeping Beauty, I highly recommend watching this. If not, then you are missing nothing.
