Despicable Me 2 (2013) [Movie Review]

On par with the majority of the sequels that have popped in recent years, Despicable Me was another movie that did not necessarily require a sequel. Yet a sequel was made! This time focusing on the life that Gru (voiced again by Steve Carell) has grown into. He has given up his villainous ways and is now full-time Mr. Mom. But he hasn't given up completely on his minions, or secret lab! He has his evil doctor and his minions working on an assortment of jams and jellies. So far with little success. One day, he is visited (abducted) by a member of the Anti-Villain League, who then gives him a job. Seeing as how he was a great villain, the AVL believes he will be a great asset in bringing down other villains. He eventually accepts, and, well watch the movie if you want to know what happens next.

Despicable Me 2 is very much on par with the first film in terms of quality. It is well-written, funny, and great for children! Even many adults will find themselves enjoying this movie. Some parts may feel unnecessary, but overall the film was fun to watch, and even had me laughing throughout most of the movie. If you enjoyed the first film, you'll more than likely enjoy this one.
