Everything Must Go (2010) [Movie Review]

To kick this off, I'll admit my feelings for Will Ferrell. I can barely stand this actor, his style of comedy never humors me. But any time he plays a 'serious' role, I'll hop right on. Stranger Than Fiction remains my favorite Will Ferrell movie, but Everything Must Go has become a close second.

I guess I spoiled the review there. I very much enjoyed this movie. Will Ferrell plays a very believable drunk, and most things that happened in this movie I could see happening in the real world.

The film centers around Nick Halsey, who is being fired in the opening scene. Losing his job starts the beginning form of his depression, and though he is a recovering alcoholic, he picks up a pack on of beer on his way home from work. And then, when driving into his driveway he finds all of his belongings sitting on the front lawn! The house is all packed up, and his wife won't answer the phone.

And the rest of the movie is mostly Nick dealing with his depression and alcoholism, while making new friends and attempting to better himself.

All-in-all Everything Must Go is a well-made movie and a nice change of pace for Will Ferrel. Here's to hoping he does more like this in the future!
