This based on a true story movie follows Steve Lopez (Robert Downey Jr.), a newspaper reporter in search of his next story. While looking for his next big story, he discovers Nathaniel Ayres (Jamie Foxx). Not much is known about Mr. Ayres, except the fact that he is homeless and plays a violin for the majority of his days. Lopez finds his story interest and writes about him. Throughout the film, the bond between Lopez and Ayres strengthens, and more is learned about the story Nathaniel and how he got to be the way he is.
The Soloist was a lovely story, albeit rough at some parts, the overall product was enjoyable to watch. Including actual homeless people in the movie was an interesting touch, and I hope that the filmmakers did something to help these people. But whether they did or not is not relevant in this review. A few moments in the movie felt a bit off-topic, but it's easy to look past when you take in the entire film.
