Pacific Rim is a movie about giant robots fighting giant monsters. It does nothing to hide this fact, it's how every trailer for the movie started. This isn't necessarily a bad thing for the film, but it's not quite a good thing either. Many people will see the trailer and think the movie sounds stupid. Me included; I just didn't see the movie turning out to be anywhere near as good as how people were saying. In a way I was right, this movie isn't at all the 10/10 many were expecting, but it was better than I was expecting, that is for damn sure.
The movie was definitely fun to watch. Like I said, giant robots fighting giant monsters - that is always fun! But the writing in the film made the film seem fairly formulatic, and you could very easily guess what would happen next. A whole bunch of cliches are present, and many other things are not truly explained. In all reality, Pacific Rim was an okay movie, it's worth a watch, but it's not a must-see.
