Pompeii (2014) [Movie Review]

Pompeii finds itself in the same boat as Titanic. It is based on a true story, in the sense that there was a volcano that erupted. Everything else is a dramatization, there is almost no way to know what actually happened in the city of Pompeii. So we get a love story.

Much of Pompeii follows the average plot structure, there is little to no deviation. There were many times where the movie had cheap TV movie feel, and others where it added gimmicky ways to use 3D. The action was unrealistic, but entertaining to watch nonetheless.

But ultimately, the movie is entertaining when it wants to be. And it's somber when it needs to be. Sitting at just over an hour and half, Pompeii might not be the perfect movie, but it was a pretty entertaining movie.

Rating: 7/10
