District 13: Ultimatum (2009) [Movie Review]

District 13: Ultimatum is the sequel to the 2004 French film, District B13. It takes place three years later, with the new government finding itself making the same poor decisions as the previous one. Out of options, they again decide that a 'fresh start' is the best option. When the District 13 gang leaders discover this, they band together to save their home.

This was an unnecessary sequel. There is really no argument in that. The story in the first film benefited from it's fairly ambiguous ending. So, I went into this film with low expectations and ended up being pleasantly surprised by it's overall quality. The previous installment was undoubtedly the better of the two films, but this featured cooler forms of combat.

This is an action film first and foremost, and it does a great job telling an action story. I don't have any specific complaints, it was a pretty average movie. This movie was time well wasted.

Rating: 7/10
