The Wind Rises (2013) [Movie Review]

The Wind Rises is the latest film from Studio Ghibli. It follows the life of real-world Jiro Horikoshi, albeit somewhat loosely. As with every Studio Ghibli movie, and most anime in general, most things are a bit over-the-top and exaggerated.

I didn't really know anything about this movie prior to my viewing, other than the fact of it being a Studio Ghibli anime and that it was Oscar nominated. I had a feeling that it would fairly weird, in a sense; which it was, but I loved it.

I found the sound effects to be my favorite part of the movie. The large majority of them were made by human voices or mumbles. It was a clever move, and made for a nice laugh the first couple times.

Not knowing much of Horikoshi prior to the movie, I found this to be a nice history lesson. Although I take everything with a grain of salt, it was definitely informative.

If you have time, you should definitely watch this movie.
