300: Rise of an Empire (2014) [Movie Review]

Taking place instantly after the events of the first 300, this movie starts with bloodshed and the death never stops. The Persian Empire is invading and it's up to Themistokles to lead his men on an attack against the ruthless Artemisia.

I did not have time to re-watch the first 300 before watching the sequel, so the story is not fresh in my head, sadly. But the movie does a wonderful job re-telling the story through the characters, so even if you haven't seen the first movie, you will get a nice re-cap.

Going into this movie, you should definitely expect bloodshed. It is primarily action, with a few drama bits attached. Much like it's predecessor.

And it does a magnificent job with it's action. It's another CGI-filled thrill ride, and I have no complaints about my time on said ride. This movie kept me entertained start-to-finish and had an ending that makes me want a third in the series.

If you like action movies and/or Greek history, then this is most definitely a movie for you.

Rating: 8/10
