Evil Dead (2013) [Movie Review]

Remaking movies has always been a great way to make money. If the original film was successful, the remake will get a little something, guaranteed. Even though the remakes usually aren't nearly as good as the original(s). So how does the Evil Dead hold up?

I'm going to assume that if you're reading this, you've seen the first one and know what happens. It's basically just five friends go to cabin and begin being attacked by demons. I would say that this film was better. The first film was released just over 30 years ago, and had a really small budget. Being made by the same people was a good touch, and now these people actually have money to make the film that they wanted to make. And without CGI! I'm not one to get scared in movies, and this was no exception, so I can't really comment on that aspect. But the slow cutting of flesh could make you shudder. If you like horror movies, this is a must-see, and if you liked the previous installments of the Evil Dead series, this is also a must-see.

Rating: 7/10

Discussion topic: If you were in these characters' shoes, would you have done anything different?
