Oblivion (2013) [Movie Review]

Meet Jack (Tom Cruise) and Victoria (Andrea Riseborough); the last two humans on Earth. No, not all humans have died - they have been relocated. On Earth, there are machines to turn our water supply into energy for the new world. Jack and Victoria find themselves fixing said machines if anything goes wrong, like if an alien attacks it. Oh yeah, the alien 'Scavs' still live on Earth. Jack will often question the orders from command, and will even go 'off-the-grid' to get some alone time, he's even build a nice little house on the surface! But when a group of human survivors land on Earth, Jack finds himself questioning almost everything he knows.

This movie was a real treat. It took elements from some of my favorite movies and jam-packed them all into one amazing, Tom Cruise-filled, movie. Many of the twists were fairly predictable, for me, but they were played out in a way that somehow still surprised me. The effects were visually stunning, and every vehicle was either elegantly awesome, or simply bad-ass. I can't wait for our technology to match up with this technology. But what really makes this film great is the superb acting, and great final words.

If you like sci-fi movies, give this one a shot. It may not be a must-see, but it is definitely worth seeing once.

Discussion topic: Jack and Victoria are two weeks away from joining the rest of civilization. Is now a good time to start questioning orders?
