The Pill (2011) [Movie Review]

"The pill" is hands down one of the best inventions in history. What some may not know, however, is that if you don't take it, it doesn't work. That is the case for Mindy (Rachel Boston), who isn't on the pill because she's Catholic. And because her body didn't react well to it before. So now after a one night stand, Fred (Noah Bean) must convince Mindy to take the morning-after pill. Mindy at first refuses, but later agrees. The fun part of the morning after pill is that it's a two dose pill. So Fred must stay with Mindy the entire day to ensure she takes both pills. Did I mention Fred is also dating another lady? Because that might be a pretty big plot point.

This movie was not the funniest thing I'd ever seen, and it definitely wasn't the best movie of the year, but it was still pretty good. The whacky adventures that Fred and Mindy have together were pretty comedic, and very realistic. Nothing in this movie had me thinking "this would never happen." Though most of the characters weren't very likable, Fred especially, they all seemed real. The acting talents of everyone involved was better than expected, definitely not perfect, but still a hell of a lot better than I was expecting. I would recommend this film, but don't expect a laugh-out-loud comedy.

Rating: 8/10
