Psycho (1960) [Movie Review]

I'm sure everyone already knows that Psycho is famous for being the first film to feature a toilet flushing. But what many of you may not know is how wonderful the film is. Quite possibly the best thriller I have seen to date, it really is no wonder that Alfred Hitchcock is called the 'Master of Suspense'.

"Wait, did he just say that a movie about a psycho was good?" Well, in a way, yes Timmy, I did say that. Psycho is about a psycho, but there's much more to it than that! It's a love story, it's a mystery, hell in some moments you may even find yourself laughing.

But in all honesty, this is arguably the most well-known thriller in cinema history. If you find yourself a book about thrillers, you will find a picture of a particular shower scene from this film. What it makes so great, though? And the answer to that is; well, everything. Everything that happens in this film is great. The suspense alone makes this a masterpiece! But accompanied by amazing acting from the entire cast, great writing, and an ending that may just give you nightmares, this film paved it's way into my favorite's list.

I guess I don't have much else to say about it, mostly in fear of spoiling it for anyone who has not seen it. I'll end on a simple note: Watch this movie. I don't care if you don't like black and white movies, just watch it.

Rating: 9/10

Discussion topic: If Psycho would have taken place in today's world, would there be any way Marion would have gotten away with her plan?
