Ah, Iron Man. The start of Marvel's Cinematic Universe. What a beautiful film and idea, and idea for a series.
As many people know, Iron Man is Tony Stark (perfectly played by Robert Downey Jr.). After an incident almost killing him, he is held captive and forced to make weapons for a terrorist group called the Ten Rings. Instead of making the weapon, however, he decides to make himself a kick-ass suite of armor that can bust him out captivity and he can fly his way to freedom. So he does that, and decides to take a more peaceful approach to his business. Instead of weapons he will do... well he doesn't know yet, but he knows he wants to stop the production of weapons. This angers a few people in the business, who then try to resolve the issue. But Iron Man obviously comes out on top, and we end with a beautiful after-credits scene featuring Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury informing Iron Man of the Avengers Initiative.
This movie is enough to make any comic book fan jump for joy. Something this ambitious had never been done before, and now everyone is trying to copy it, but this was a great way to start. Just looking at the actors for this film, it's clear Marvel didn't care about the expenses. Robert Downey Jr. was born to play this role, it's hardly even acting for him. And then we also get Jon Favreau directing (and playing the part of Happy Hogan), Terrance Howard as Rhodey (though he was replaced later with Don Cheadle, another big name), Jeff Bridges as Obadiah, Gwyneth Paltrow as Pepper Potts, and then Samuel L. Jackson briefly making his cameo as Nick Fury. Every single actor plays their roles perfectly. An amazing film, any fan of comic books should have already seen this, but if you haven't, I highly recommend it.
