United States stands alone.
Well, fuck. This can not end well for the Americans. Now, I'm an American, so I'm hooked right from the get-go. And right after this short narration, what do we get? A nice lecture from a teacher about war. Then, like rain, a group of Russian's fall from the sky and begin firing on the school. This scene is one of the best opening scenes in a film I have ever seen. The film has to decline from there, right? Wrong. Now everyone scrambles to save their lives, we follow a select few; Jed (perfectly played by Patrick Swayze) being the guy in charge. Driving his truck around the city, avoiding many people with many guns, and saving around 10 people. These 10 are obviously our main characters.
And our main characters are pretty cool. First they get some supplies and begin living in the forest, then they start stealing food, weapons, gathering intelligence, anything they need. These kids began their very own resistance. This premise is much more interesting. We get to watch the characters as they learn how to shoot, hunt, and survive. They all make a name for themselves, tagging the town with "Wolverines!" as they recapture their home.
This movie is one hell of a treat. If you ever get a chance, watch this film. Patrick Swayze is amazing in just about every single role he took, and this was no exception. This movie is a must-see for any fan of action movies. Pay no attention to the 2012 remake.
