The Incredible Hulk is proof of two things. The first being that people want to see Hulk on the big screen. And second, that it is possible to tell a great story about the Hulk. Now, this didn't smash the box office, but the numbers were still pretty good.
Skipping the boring origin story, we go right to Bruce Banner's (played by Ed Norton) dilemma of dealing with his situation. The U.S. government is looking for him, though General Thunderbolt Ross (played by William Hurt) is the most interested party. For years Banner evades Ross but eventually finds himself under attack. Banner must fight and protect his lady, who happens to be the General's daughter.
Okay, so the plot isn't the greatest. And the movie isn't the best. When you compare it to the 2003 version of the Hulk, this film blows the other away. Much deeper, and much more action. Both children and adults can enjoy this one, whereas the previous installment was a bit boring at parts.
And the first time watching the post-credits pre-credits scene was something that words cannot describe. So much excitement! It was set-in-stone that The Avengers movie would happen.
If you enjoy comic book movies, I would recommend this one. And I would say it's a must-see if you plan on watching The Avengers.
Rating: 7/10
Discussion topic: With something as powerful as the Hulk, there are many different viewpoints on how to fix the problem. Should they attempt to get rid of it completely? Attempt to recreate a similar creature, hopefully more controlled? What are your thoughts?
