Blade is based off of Marvel's half vampire, half human character by the name of - you guessed it - Blade. For those of you unfamiliar with the character, his mother was bitten by a vampire when she was pregnant, causing her to go into labor, her then dying in labor, and Eric Brooks is born into the world. He has all of the strengths of the vampires, but with none of the weaknesses (for the most part)!
This film is in a sense the origin story for the character. The first hour-or-so is simply us learning about Blade, and a little about the vampire underground. The film has it's ups-and-downs, but it's a must-see for any fan of vampires, or Blade.
