Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy (2004) [Movie Review]

Anchorman follows the life of Ron Burgundy, a news anchor for Channel 4, now the leading network. The "team" consists of Ron Burgundy (Will Ferrell) as the head anchor, Brian Fantana (Paul Rudd) as the lead field reporter, Champ Kind (David Koechner) as the sportcaster, and Brick Tamland (Steve Carell) the mentally retarded chief meteorologist. The year is 1975, and times are changing; the crew needs more diversity, so they hire a woman to join the staff, Veronica Corningstone (Christina Applegate). Ron and Veronica strike up a love connection, and eventually Veronica plays a prank on Ron that gets him fired. This puts Ron into a depression, then the inevitable call for his return, and we get a happy ending.

With the amazing cast in this film (including the cameos) it's hard to believe how unfunny this movie was. Sure, the film had it's moments, and maybe some of them have been ruined by almost everyone constantly reciting them, but the movie as a whole didn't strike me as funny. So we look at the story, everything that happened in this film was either stupid, or followed the generic movie plot, and most of the time it was both. Most of the jokes in this film are funny for a middle-school aged child, I honestly don't see how this film earned such the fanbase it earned.
