Drive (2011) [Movie Review]

Drive is one of, if not the, best films of 2011. Ryan Gosling plays Driver, a mysterious and quiet man; a car mechanic and stunt-driver by day, getaway driver by night. Carey Mulligan plays Irene, Driver's neighbor and love interest. One major problem with this relationship is that Irene is married, with her husband serving time in prison.
Standard, Irene's husband, is later released from prison, and at first rather dislikes Driver, can't say I blame him. As time passes; Standard and Driver strike up a friendship, and after he get's attacked by his old gang, Driver decides to help Standard with his next heist. Events transpire, and Driver goes on a rampage. Killing most of the mob leaders in the city.

The book, Drive by James Sallis, had a much better ending than the film, with Driver bringing the money back to his foster parents. But the film was beautiful and still had a great story. It does appear to be a love it or hate it film, but I still recommend it to anyone.

Rating: 10/10

Discussion topic: If you were fooling around with a married woman, would you help the husband in any way?
