Gangster Squad (2013) [Movie Review]

Gangster Squad was one of the movies I anticipated most from last year, so when it got the delay I was a tad bit upset, but I completely understood why it happened.

So, for those of who you who don't know; Gangster Squad follows the story about a group of cops who take down Mickey Cohen. The group of six cops must do whatever it takes to take down Mickey, and this means a lot of blood.

The movie starts strong, and never dies down. Within the first five minutes, you learn that Mickey will kill anyone that stands in his way, and that Brolin's character, John O'Mara, is both bad-ass and will do whatever is necessary to protect the innocent. It doesn't take too long before the Chief, played by Nick Nolte, has O'Mara gather a team - which is rather illegal.

Everything about Gangster Squad was done right. They had amazing acting, from a perfect cast, with Josh Brolin, Sean Penn, Ryan Gosling, and Emma Stone - to name a few, a beautifully designed set, a superb script, and just the right amount of comedic relief. It's really a good thing the movie wasn't longer than four hours, otherwise I'd have to visit my doctor.

Rating: 10/10
