Planet of the Apes (1968) [Movie Review]

Planet of the Apes is one of the greatest films I had ever seen. Being made in the '60s, this film has very poor effects, but makes up for it in story and costume design.

Planet of the Apes follows three astronauts, or more-so Taylor, who have crash-landed on a mysterious planet where the apes rule, and the humans are near-mindless beasts. The astronauts are eventually captured, and are experimented on by the apes.

Watching this movie really gets the brain going. I always find myself asking myself questions about how we treat animals. When you see how Taylor is treated in the movie; you're supposed to feel sympathy, he's a human after all! But then you get to thinking, we treat animals almost the exact same way, some times even worse.

Besides the thinking that comes of watching this movie, we get some pretty good acting from Charles Heston, some great music, and some very memorable and famous quotes. The only bad thing I can say about this movie is that the twist at the end is often ruined by the marketing posters for the film. And that multiple viewings aren't as entertaining.

Rating: 10/10

Discussion topic: How possible do you think it is for another species to overthrow humans as most dominant?
