"Wax on... wax off" - one of the most well-known movie quotes in history. I'd argue that it is the most well-known quote for the action genre. The Wax on/wax off training regiment is one of the greatest I've ever seen, well one of the most interesting, at least.
The Karate Kid is about a scrawny teenager, Daniel Larusso (Ralph Macchio), who is bullied by some of the people in his new place of residence. To top it off; his crush is the girl who recently broke up with one of the people who are attacking him. It doesn't take long before Daniel decides he wants to fight back, but with no money to afford a decent karate school, he has no idea what to do. That is, until Mr. Miyagi (Pat Morita) offers his assistance.
This film is now a classic, and I imagine the majority of the people reading this have also seen it. Even so, I feel inclined to mention the great writing in this film, and the acting may not be top notch, it still makes for a great movie. Being made in the '80s, it may not look as good as a film would in 2013, but they still managed to make it look beautiful.
The Karate Kid is a great film, I would highly recommend it. (It's on Netflix Instant for the next two days!)
Rating: 8/10
Discussion topic: Do you think Daniel would have been better off with a legitimate training regiment?
