Batman Begins the beginning of Christopher Nolan's superb Batman trilogy. The film introduces us to Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale), Alfred Pennyworth (Michael Caine), the good ol' Jim Gordon (Gary Oldman), the love of Bruce's life, Rachel Dawes (Katie Holmes), and the talented weapons master; Lucius Fox (Morgan Freeman). And let's not forget our enemies, they do appear in the sequels aswell! Our two main bad guys are Scarecrow (Cillian Murphy) and the mysterious Ducard (Liam Neeson).
So, plot. Batman Begins is the origin story, which tend to not be as good as the sequels. This origin, however, was simply amazing. Bruce witnesses his parents die, we knew that would happen. Then Bruce makes some poor decisions, but eventually get's trained in by the League of Shadows. He is now, for the most part, Batman. Batman at first is hated by the cops, but after saving the day, is loved by the cops, and we are lead into the next installment; The Dark Knight.
This film is a very good film, to say the
least. It definitely makes for a better impression than the last one did
(Batman & Robin, if you were unaware). For being an origin story, it really does blow the viewer away. We get excellent acting, every one of the actor/actresses seemed real. The tone of Batman Begins is definitely darker than the previous Batman films, which is both good and bad at the same time. Personally, I like a good goofy-ish comic book movie, but the dark tone was fun to see. Overall a great to start to a very good series.
