Fire with Fire (2012) [Movie Review]

Fire with Fire is a straight-to-DVD film, which more often that not makes for a terrible film. The plot of Fire with Fire is that is that Fireman Jeremy Coleman (Josh Duhamel) witnesses a murder, made by the major crime boss David Hagen (Vincent D'Onofrio). After witnessing said murder, he testifies against him in court, and is put into witness protection. While in the witness protection program, he falls in love with one of the female Marshals, Talia Durham (Rosario Dawson) who is later attacked by Hagen. This puts Jeremy into a different witness protection program, with no real identity. With no real identity, Jeremy decides to go after Hagen, and goes on a rampage for revenge.

So, the plot of this film was really bad. Suspended belief is the key to watching this film, if you want something realistic, try somewhere else. The effects in this movie are terrible, but to be expected from a direct-to-DVD film. Fire with Fire does, however, have a beautiful opening credits set-up. And this movie was possibly the first time I'd seen someone actually react to torturing someone. Overall it was an alright film, but definitely nothing special.

Rating: 6/10

Discussion topic: The head cop (Bruce Willis) knew Jeremy was killing the gang members under Hagen's control, but did nothing both because he had a personal vendetta against Hagen, and that he simply wanted Hagen stopped. Do you think his actions are justified?
