Hotel Transylvania (2012) [Movie Review]

Hotel Transylvania is fun little animation about monsters, life, and love. Dracula (Adam Sandler) builds a hotel to provide a safe-haven for monsters, but most importantly for his daughter Mavis (Selena Gomez). All of his monster friends are invited to help celebrate Mavis' 118th birthday party, in which her dad has promised to let her leave the hotel and see the world. Well, joining the party is Jonathan (Andy Samberg), a human! Jonathan joining the part caused many problems for Drac, but many laughs for the viewer. Jonathan and Mavis fall in love, then finish the story up.

The story is a little predictable, but the film itself was amazing. We get some powerful messages about prejudice, a great love story, and a great story of the lengths a father will go to protect his daughter. The film is very funny, with an all-star cast: Adam Sandler, Andy Samberg, Selena Gomez, Kevin James, Steve Buscemi, David Spade, and Chris Parnell to name a few. If you have kids, like a good love story, like a good monster story, or just like kids' movies; I would highly recommend this to you.

Rating:: 8/10

Discussion topic: Mavis is 118 (apparently the equivalent of an 18 year old human), Jonathan is 21; what do you feel about their relationship?
