Set in Germany, at the end of WWII, Downfall follows the lives of a few of the highest ranking German's. The main person, of course, being Adolf Hitler (Bruno Ganz). The other main character being Traudle Junge (Alexandra Maria Lara), Hitler's secretary. The real Traudle Junge also appears before the movie or after the credits (depending on which version you see) explaining her guilt of joining the Nazi's. I'm not going to mention the others, as they are far less important than these two.
Being a fan of history myself, I enjoyed every minute of this film. It's always a nice change-up to see movies from the perspective of the bad guy. Seeing as how this entire film was about the end of the war, the entire film was mostly sad, with the sorta sad music to accompany it. That, coupled with the fact that Downfall is a 2.5 hour long movie, makes the film boring for someone who isn't in to history. So, if you like history, definitely check this one out. If you don't like history, definitely do not watch this.
Rating: 8/10
Discussion topic: Many people were loyal enough to Hitler that they wanted to die with him. Are you that loyal with anyone? If not, do you think you ever would be?
