After he catches his wife cheating on him, Pat (Bradley Cooper) beats the man she's cheating with, and is put into a mental institution. 8 months later, he is able to leave as long as he agrees to respect the rules put in place. One of these rules, though, is the fact that he must stay away from his wife, as she has a restraining order. But Pat plans to right all of the wrongs he feels he created, he wants to do anything he can to get his wife and old job back. So when Tiffany (Jennifer Lawrence) agrees to help, he instantly takes up her proposal. But before Tiffany will do anything for Pat, Pat has to do something for Tiffany.
Silver Linings Playbook is my second-favorite film of 2012 (second only to Cloud Atlas). That being said, it was the perfect mix of comedy and drama. Bradley Cooper's performance is brilliant, as usual, he plays a very good crazy person. And this is the first film in which Jennifer Lawrence actually struck me as a good actress. In the past she had been decent, but she was amazing in this and It appears the rest of the world agrees. Moving on, the premise at first seems kind of stupid. Why is Pat trying to get back with his wife that cheated on and got a restraining order against him? Then the realization that he is crazy makes up for that. In his mind he believes he can mend the past, and doesn't realize that his future is literally dancing with him. So, you get a great story, some amazing quotes - both funny and thoughtful, and despite the somewhat cheesy ending, this film is about as perfect as they come for this genre. I'd venture to say it's a must-see!
