Admission (2013) [Movie Review]

Being an Admissions officer at the #1 #2 school in the country is a pretty big deal for Tina Fey's character, Portia Nathan. She get's to work even harder this year for two reasons, the first reason being the Dean is retiring at the end of the year and she is up for a promotion, and the second reason is that she is trying to get her possible biological son into the college. Wacky antics ensue, drama, comedy, romance, feel-good kinda movie. It seems these are the movies Paul Rudd really enjoys doing, and I personally have no complaints.

Now, was this movie amazing? No, no it was not. Was it good? Well, I can't say yes or no, it was entertaining, but most of the plot was a basic plot structure. Even being a Paul Rudd fan, I couldn't help but feel his character, and many others, could have had more screen time, or at least a little more information for them. But oh well, Tina Few was the lead, so it all makes sense. Like I said, the movie wasn't great, but it wasn't bad. Don't go in expecting a comedy, because it is a drama laced with some comedy. In my opinion it was worth the cost of admission, but I can't say everyone will enjoy this film.

Rating: 6/10

Discussion topic: Having the same job for almost 20 years, is that good or bad?
