Four friends take a trip down a dying river. Doesn't sound that great, but I assure you, this is an amazing film. This is another film I don't want to spoil too much of, but I will say that it follows the story of four friends; Lewis (Burt Reynolds), Ed (Jon Voight), Bobby (Ned Beatty), and Drew (Ronny Cox). On their way down the river, they face a few obstacles, and must make decisions on how to handle them. Again, I apologize for the poor description.
Having not read the book, or seen a trailer; I had as minimal knowledge about this film as possible. And that is something that is both rare and amazing. All I knew about this film was that Burt Reynolds is the man in it, kind of like he is in every other film.
The acting in this film is amazing. Obviously Burt wasn't a concern, and Jon Voight had already been established as a great actor as well. But for both Beatty and Cox, this was their first role and they have since both had great careers in response. So, yeah, great acting all around.
If you haven't yet seen this film, I highly recommend this one. Such a great story with great visuals and great acting. A true film.
