The Last Exorcism (2010) [Movie Review]

Once again I have selected a horror movie. Well all know I hate horror films, and I also rather when there is a first-person camera-man. But, I decided to watch The Last Exorcism anyway, because I will be watching Part II in a few days, and wanted to get in line with the story.

The Last Exorcism follows Cotton Marcus (Patrick Fabian) as he performs his last exorcism. He agrees to be part of a documentary exposing the fraud of exorcisms. Throughout the course of the film, he explains how to make the exorcism look real, and eventually "exorcises" Nell (Ashley Bell). Only to eventually realize she was indeed possessed and all Hell breaks loose.

Despite my dislike of the genre and hate of the shakey-cam, the premise of this film was good. The film had excellent writing, admittedly a terrible ending but overall it was written quite nicely. But a greatly written film can't be saved by terrible acting, effects, and and camera work. I wouldn't recommend this film.

Rating: 6/10

Discussion topic: N/A (I know, I'm slacking. I'm sorry, I'll get my brain pumping out more for my future reviews)
