Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog (2008) [Movie Review]

Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog is a wondrous musical made by the legendary Joss Whedon during the 2008 writers strike.

Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog follows the life of Billy/Dr. Horrible (Neil Patrick Harris) as he attempts to entire the Evil League of Evil. He has a crush on Penny (Felicia Day), a girl from the laundromat, but he can never work up the courage to talk to her, until she asks him to sign a petition for her, in which case they become friends. But Captain Hammer (Nathan Fillion) doesn't want our villain to be happy, and starts dating Penny. Leaving Dr. Horrible conflicted on how to solve his problems.

It's pretty apparent that this was a low-budget film; the sets work, but they are clearly very cheap. But in a film like this, it doesn't have to be perfect, the simple sets and costume designs actually make for a nice feeling movie. Yes, this was technically a series of episodes, but they all make a movie, so I'm labeling it as such. Moving on, this film had one of the best soundtracks I've ever heard. Which is good, seeing as how it was a musical. All of the songs fit the mood perfectly and cause many laughs. The acting is amazing in this, but when you get Neil Patrick Harris, Felcia Day, and Nathan Fillion, that is to be expected. Dr. Horrible is a near-perfect film, and I would recommend anyone with a sense of humor to watch it.

Rating: 9/10
