The Truman Show (1998) [Movie Review]

Wouldn't it be great to be the star of your very own TV show? Well, what if you didn't know that you were the star? Or even that your life was being televised? Well that's the story of Truman Burbank (Jim Carrey), the main character in The Truman Show. From birth, Truman's life has been broadcasted live to the entire world. But after 30 years, Truman realizes how weird everything is, and attempts to make his escape.

Wow. I wasn't expecting much from this, but it was actually quite amazing. Everything was done great, you almost believe that it would be possible to do something like this. But the main reason I enjoyed this film so much was the questions it raises. Should it be acceptable to do something like this? How would you choose the candidates? Who would give up their baby for this? Do you have to give up your baby? A great movie to watch with a group and discuss, highly recommended.

Rating: 8/10

Discussion topic: Should it be acceptable to film someones life without their knowledge?
